Childhood friends Elle and Jay are finally ready to present their two-handed musical version of A TALE OF TWO CITIES, with Elle herself playing one of the actors. When the other actor unexpectedly fails to turn up, a reluctant Jay must step in, lest they both lose the backing of a potential investor they have invited to the performance.

JAY (M, tenor) — The unassuming co-writer, composer, and lyricist of the show-within-a-show; takes on the roles of Charles Darnay, Sydney Carton, Alexandre Manette, Monsieur Defarge, Court, Barsad, etc.
MUSICAL DIRECTOR or STAGE MANAGER (M or F) — A non-speaking, non-singing role; can be played by an actual onstage band member or an actual Stage Manager.
